Santiago is the largest island in Cape Verde, with a total area of 991 km². In 2021, the population of the island of Santiago was estimated at 273,988. Characterized as a mountainous island ideal for hiking and trekking, but also with beautiful beaches, such as Praia do Tarrafal.

Sao Vicente is the second most populated island of Cape Verde.
